What's in the box? - 1/7 Catwoman

Today I'll be doing an unboxing of the recast of the bishoujo Catwoman from e2046. Being a big Batman fan, I felt I had to pick this one up. Plus it's such a good looking kit. Now, let's see what's in the box.

This box is really small. It's maybe a third the size of an standard MG box.

Like all e2046 kits, a color photo of the kit is on top.

Next are the instructions. I really like the instructions from their Antihero line. Might just be one page, but the parts list and assembly instructions are very clear.

Next are a few bags of parts. Things are not off to a good start. The black wire is literally black electrical wire. It still has all of the markings for the company to produced the wire. Can the wire even be painted? Although that's not a major issue, the corner on the cape appears to have broken off. Hope everything else is ok...

Taking all of the parts out of the bag, I'm not terribly impressed. Most seem ok. Zipper on main body will need some of the detail put back in. There also appears to be a little gap or something where the zipper should be. Not sure why that happened. The cape is broken. Plastic is fairly thick. I think this is a simple fix.

Not one of the better first impressions from e2046. Especially from their Antihero line. Past experience has made me expect more. Oh well. Not like there's anything major here.

What's in the box? - 1/7 Supergirl

Picked up the recast of the bishoujo Supergirl from e2046. I really like the way the kit looks, but when I get around to this, I likely wont be doing the standard color scheme. I really like the Michael Turner evil Supergirl. That being said, let's see what's in the box.

Box is pretty small. When placed next to an MG box, you can see the size difference. Interesting when you consider that the kit is about the same size as an MG.

First thing inside the box is a color photo.

Next are the instructions. And by instruction I mean a really bad photo of the parts. This thing is almost worthless.

All that's left are a few bags of parts. The base has a base. Interesting and unexpected. Might save this base for other kits. The cape is really big. Really like the clear cloud base. Looks really nice. There are some pretty large holes to attach Supergirl and the cat. Might have an issue of seeing the connector to the base through the clear base.

As for the parts themselves, they're ok. Well really most of the parts are pretty solid, but there are a few that are not good. There's a pour mark right over some detail. Not a big deal, but it does mean the line will need to put back. Also, the skirt is in pretty rough shape. Not sure what happened here. Nothing putty and sanding can't fix, but it's a little disappointing.

What's in the box? - Wonder Woman

Received a new resin figure today. It is a figure of Wonder Woman (purchased from e2046). I've been a fan of Marvel and DC Bishoujo figures so when I found one I could actually paint I was pretty excited. I've also pre- ordered the Psylocke one as well. Still waiting on that one though. Now on to the box.

Unlike my previous one, the box is in prefect condition. There's what I'm discovering is the usual stuff on top. Instructions/parts list...

Then there are the parts.

The spears appear pretty warped. Hopefully that isn't a big issue. Casting seems pretty good. There aren't any noticeable imperfections. But I'll hold off final judgement until I actually get to work on a resin kit. Seems odd that the hair is a clear plastic. Not sure what that's about. Hopefully it wont cause any problems.

So if you've been following the blog you know that I've ordered and received a few resin kits in the past two weeks. I've avoided describing my impressions of the package because I didn't know what to expect. But now that I've opened a few I've developed a reasonable opinion of what I expect to see when I open a kit.

• Large parts sheet. I like the parts sheet that got with the Kanu kit. It's a photo of the parts laid out in actual size. Makes it very easy to see if you have all of the parts.
• Instructions. I got those with Clare and Wonder Woman, but not Kanu. It's not really a necessity as building a figure is fairly intuitive but there may be a stray part that I have no idea what to do with.
• Colored photos. Yes, plural. I've been pretty disappointed that there isn't at least a front and back photo. 
• Quality parts. I'm still getting a feel for resin, but I think I have a good idea of what a good casting looks like. 
• Bonuses. I like how the Clare kit comes with two different arms. Or how the Clare and Wonder Woman kits come with bases.

In addition to describing what's in the box I'm going to give my impression of the future packages.
