Weekly WIP - Full Armor XN Raiser (Part 13)

Done a lot of work on the kit, but it's not going to look like it. Finished painting the gray parts. Panel lined the white, red, and blue parts. The white resin parts look better than I thought they would.

Before clean up

After clean up.

Added decals to the blue and red parts.

Many hours went into those details, but I think they're worth it. Should have all these parts finished this weekend. No excuse with an extra day off from work.

What else I'm into...
EVO 2012. Best fighting game players battle it out. I'm most excited for the Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 tournament. I love this game and I've really enjoyed watching the best North American players. Can't wait to see what the European and Asian players have come up with. If you're interested you can stream the tournament here: (http://evo2012.s3.amazonaws.com/live/index.html) July 6-8. All of the finals will be held on the 8th.

Weekly WIP - Full Armor XN Raiser (Part 12)

Quick update. Been doing a ton of painting. Only managed to base coat the grey parts. Based coated and highlighted all the yellow, red, blue and white parts. Personally I don't think the resin parts look good. They needed so much work. Way beyond my skill level. Yellow isn't as bright as I thought it would be. Looked good on the spoon. Not sure what happened. Everything else looks good. Can't really see the red highlight, but it's there. It should show up better in the final result.

Also managed to finish a few parts.

CEO 2012. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 tourney was awesome. So many good players. So many great matches. If you didn't catch it, check out the youtube vids that will probably be up in a few days. They're about the run the Top 24 for Street Fighter 4 AE so until next time...

Weekly WIP - AGE-2 Normal (Part 1)

Been working like crazy on my kit for the HLJ competition. Only two weeks left. Not sure I'm going to make it but the end is in sight. As if that wasn't enough, I decided to enter the iShop2go AGE-2 Normal competition. Might not have been a good idea given the time constraints (it ends the same day as the HLJ competition).

I got the kit snapped together pretty quickly. Then I started rushing the sanding. Didn't seem to be an issue until I started painting. You can really see some of the scratched that I missed. Anyways, here are some pics of the parts in their current state. Some need a gloss coat for panel lining.

Others are ready for a flat coat.

And others need to be painted.

As for the paint, here are the colors I am using.

The dark purple/blue is 2 parts blue, 2 parts black, 3 parts purple.

Right now, I think this is one of my better paint jobs. Unfortunately, my poor prep job is taking away from that. Well hopefully with some clean panel lining and creative posing, I can cover most of that up.

What else I'm into...
Don't have much time for other stuff with these two competitions, but while I've waited for paint or putty to dry, I've returned to playing Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. I know I've mentioned this game a lot, but what can I say. I love it! If you haven't checked it out, do so. And remember, respect the foot dive!

Weekly WIP - MG Strike Freedom (Part 12)

What I'm working on...
Made some actual progress with the Strike Freedom this week. Was even warm and sunny this morning, so I got a little more than expected finished.

Flat coated and panel lined all of the armor parts for the leg and arm armor.

Unfortunately, I had some issues spraying the flat coat. Not sure what the deal was, but it came out uneven in parts. Left some very noticeable white spots. Going to have to play with it a bit to see if I can get them removed.

Since the gun has no gold parts, I put it together. Too bad I temporarily misplaced a piece. It's pretty noticable that the nose of the gun is missing. Found the part, just need to paint it.

Since I finished all of the armor I had enough skewers to do the frame. Got all of the parts painted black, then gold, then with a gloss coat of Future. I think the parts looks pretty good. Just need to do some panel lining and then I can assemble.

What else I'm into...
Video games! Still playing  Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Battlefield 3. I know I've had both of these on here before, but I can't seem to put them down for long. Biggest reason I haven't finished the Strike Freedom. If you haven't played either, you really need to. Very different games, but both are a lot of fun.

Oakland Raiders! Big game today and they're big underdogs going against the undefeated Packers. I'm unrealistically optimistic about the Raiders chances, but I can't help it. I'm a fan. Well I'm off to watch the game. See you guys next time.

Weekly WIP - MG Strike Freedom (Part 11)

What I'm working on...
Have another short update this week. Progress was a bit slow as the temperature has been in the mid 30s this week. Could barely feel my hand after 30 min. After a few sessions, I did manage to get some armor parts painted. For the most part they look pretty good. I would have painted the frame parts, but I've apparently run out of skewers. I had over 100, so I have no idea where they all went. Going to need to get more.

Also managed to get a gloss coat on so I could start decaling. Decals are looking ok so far. The process is taking longer than I would like though. I keep getting confused because I'm putting together the right arm and left leg. Since there are side specific decals, I want to make sure I do it right. I think I'm doing it right so far but I would fully know until assembly.

Hopefully in the next week or two I'll have the body done and just need to do the wings.

What else I'm into...
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. I love this series. I'm not terribly good, but I love playing. There are a ton of recognizable characters, many different play styles, and a lot of chaos.
