Continuing the build...
Step 9 - Building the backpack. Very simple design. Seems odd after all the detail on the other parts.
Step 10 - Next up, the shoulder supports for the wings. Even these parts have a lot of panel lines.
Step 11 - Assembling the upper body. Looks pretty good. Definitely needs paint though.
Step 12 - Would think the next step is the arms and legs, but it's the shield. The gears to make the blades swing open is a nice little gimmick for such an old kit.
Step 13 - Finally it's time to assemble the entire body of the kit. Looks ok. The panel line thing still seems weird. Some parts have a ton of detail. Others have almost none. Doesn't really make sense to me.
Step 14 - Would think the weapon would be the last part, but I guess it's the wings.
Step 15 - So this is weird, the wings have add on parts. There are a few other sections that could use more parts to help with color separation. Not sure why they chose to the wings to do this on.
Step 16 - Final step, attaching the wings. The result looks pretty good. Still don't like all of the panel lines. Given that I'm currently working a new MG and SD, I'm a bit underwhelmed by this kit. It was probably pretty good for it's time, but now it just doesn't stand up. Speaking of standing up, that's about all it can do. The limited articulation makes it hard to get any decent poses.
However, on an action base the possibilities open up. Currently I have the unpainted kit like this.
After some time, I decided to lift the left arm and open the shield and add the effect part. Personally I think it looks pretty good for an HG. Well that's all for now. For those thinking about taking a trip back in time and building this kit, I really don't have any complaints. Except for the excessive panel lines... and the gold parts. They stink and you'll have to repaint those.

Kit Building - 1/100 HG Deathscythe (Part 1)
I've been getting lazy with the Strike Freedom project because it's been so cold. But it's given me a chance to snap together the 1/100 HG Deascythe Hell. You can check out what's in the box here. Now lets start building.
Step 1 - Instructions start with the upper legs. Lots of panel lines on the upper leg.
Step 2 - Interesting. The next step is the feet...
Step 3 - And the the rest of the legs. So many panel lines.
Step 4 - With the legs done, it's time for the arms. There's a lot of panel lines on the shoulders, but almost none on the rest of the arms. That's odd.
Step 5 - Next the hands. Wow. After working on a newer MG, you can forget how bad old HG hands were. But I do like the three finger / trigger finger split instead of the fixed posed hands of the HG/NGs.
Step 6 - Next is the head. There's a ton of detail on this head. I've never seen many panel lines on a head.
Step 7 - Next part is the chest. The gold pieces look terrible. Age probably has something to do with it, but the gold has rubbed off most of the edges. Doesn't look good. Wonder how to remove it. Not important now. Not going to be getting to this kit for a while.
Step 8 - Time for the last major part of the body, the waist. Very plain pieces here. Except for the back skirt, which has more than it's fair share of details.
Well that's all for now. Part 2 will showcase the weapons, wings, and the completed suit.

What's in the box? - 1/100 HG Deathscythe Hell
I'm a huge fan of all Deathscythe kits, especially this one. It looks like nothing else and it's one of the most evil looking "good guy" gundams. With all of the Wing Master Grades coming out, I'm unrealistically optimistic that this will be this will be one of them. So until that day, I'll just have to settle with this kit. On to the box!
As you can see in the images above, the kit was made in 1996 and goes for 1800 yen. However, being an older kit, it's not hard to find it for cheaper. So in the box, you get 8 runners.
The first plate is the B plate. Not sure what happened to A. I assume A is for the 1/100 HG Deathscythe. The B plate is all white and mostly the leg parts.
Next up, the plate is the C plate. This contains the grey pats. Mostly for the joints, backpack, and manipulators.
On to the D plate. This has all of the clear green effect parts. I believe this is the same as the HG Deathscythe.
The next plate is the F plate. Once again I assume E is for the HG Deathscythe. From here on out, I think these parts are unique to the Deathscythe Hell. This runner contains the dark blue armor for the skirt armor, head, shoulder, and arms. Looks like there's a ton of detail... too much detail for my tastes.
The next runner is the G plate. This is another dark blue runner. It contains all of the wing armor and the feet. Like the previous runner, these parts appear to have an excessive amount of detail.
The sixth runner is the H1 plate. This is another grey runner. It has random armor and weapon parts.
The second to last runner is the H2 plate. This is a gold plate. Not happy at all with this plate. A lot of the gold appears to have rubbed off. Makes them look really bad with the silver undercoat showing through. Not sure how to remove this stuff for painting, but I'll worry about that later.
Last plate is poly caps (PC-111). These appear to be your standard set of poly caps.
With all of the runners are some foil stickers. These look ok, I suppose. I wont be using them, so I don't really care about these.
And as always, at the bottom is the instruction manual. This manual is smaller than a newer 1/100 HG/NG kit. Even with that the artwork looks pretty good. Not much in the way of action poses, suggesting that this guy has very limited articulation. But that is too be expected with a mid 90's kit.
Well that's all. Hope this was helpful.
