Weekly WIP - AGE-2 Normal (Part 2)

Going to be quick this week. Been busy building. 2 kits, 1 week left. I'm on pace to finish on time, so hopefully nothing too major will get in the way. Here's a preview of the AGE-2 Normal.

Here are some other finished parts that can't be attached yet.

Lastly, what's left.

I appear to have lost a part. It's the poly cap that joins the head to the body. Looking for a replacement. Not sure I can get one in time. Might have to make something.

Well that's all for now. I need to get back to work on the HLJ kit.

What else I'm into...
The Walking Dead. First two episodes of the second half of this season have been pretty good. Hopefully tonight's episode will be equally as good. As much as I love the tv show, the comic is much better. If you haven't checked it out, what are you waiting for? I recently finished the ninth TPB and I couldn't put it down. I can't recommend the series enough. Check it out!

Weekly WIP - MG Strike Freedom (Part 8)

After a little unplanned hiatus I'm back at work on the Strike Freedom!

What I'm working on...
Got the inner frame for the chest and one of the legs painted. Still need to gloss coat, then panel line, then gloss again before taking pics. Also got the armor for the chest and one of the legs mostly painted. The dark blue looks bad in the photo, but that's actually the paint catching the light. The purple is actually a semi metallic purple. When it's hit with a flat coat, the end result should look good (check out the base below).

Gloss coated and did the decals too. They're setting better than they did on the waist section, but it's still not going on right. Micro Set/Sol worked with the decals I got from Samuel Decal, but they don't seem to be working with the Bandai ones. Going to take a trip to the local hobby shop before I do any more decals to see if there are other solutions.

The leg has one bad seam line. My plan is to paint the frame, paint the armor, attach the armor, mask off the exposed frame, remove the seam line, and lastly repaint the armor. This is the best solution I can come up with.

On the positive side, I finally got the base done. My masking skills need some improvement, but with a little touch up, I think it looks ok. Since it's the base, I'm hoping it wont draw too much attention. At a distance, the base looks pretty good, but up close the defects are pretty noticeable.

What else I'm into...
The Walking Dead. Both the show and the comic. I love the show. Lots of exciting twists and turns. That being said, the comic book is better. More zombies, more surprises, and Michonne! She is awesome. If you haven't checked out the Walking Dead, you really should give it a shot.

Weekly WIP - Clare (Part 1)

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have been unable to work on my Strike Freedom. In the mean time I put some work into my first resin kit and my first figure. The kit is of Clare from anime (and probably manga) Claymore. If you want my thoughts on the kit and why I got it, check out the unboxing.

What I'm working on...
First order of business is removing the pour marks and fitting it together.

Parts fit together pretty good. Happy about that. Only work that will need to be done is some putty work. Hair, arms, and legs need work.

And then there's the cape. It's in pretty bad shape. There are two areas that are broken. One is minor and is a fairly easy fix. The other one... not so much. Not entirely sure how to handle it. Probably going to have to try gluing some pla plate and using putty to get the right shape. I'm going to put this part on hold until I figure it out.

Next step, primer. Using Krylon white primer. Not terribly happy with it. It appears to be good primer, it just doesn't cover up the color underneath. Now that it is primed, I can see all the defects I couldn't see before. Revealed some areas that need sanding and a little putty. Easy work.

That's all for now. Not sure when I'll get around to the next WIP as I hope to be getting back to work on the Strike Freedom.

What else I'm into...
Battlefield 3 (PC version). I'm putting the new computer I built over the summer to the test. Runs pretty well on high settings which is fantastic. As for the game itself, I kind of like it. I'm not really a fan of first person shooters, but I like how you can level up and support a team without having to try and kill everyone. Haven't really played the campaign mode yet. Wasn't really enjoying the timed button press stuff, so I've really just been doing multi-player. For fans of multi-player first person shooters, I'd say this is fantastic and a must own.

Scary movies! Since Halloween is around the corner, I broke out some scary movies to watch. Halloween II (the Rob Zombie one), 28 Days Later, Devils Rejects, and High Tension. All really good and highly recommended. And I followed it up with a new episode of The Walking Dead tonight. Also very enjoyable.
